Happy Fall

Stephen started a new job today hope all works out very well at this new place.
Kalen will have this week off from pre-school they are having new management come in and they don't want the chidlren there. So I have both at home once again just when we were digging ourselves into a nice fall routine. Argh what can be said about change. It is such a good thing. You need to view it as a fresh start, a new beginning, a new exciting season upon us. However you see change it is inevitable it will occur regardless. K- will be attending her second class in dance this week, we had to change to a different day during the week as the dance teacher was booked solid on overload with a muliptude of young girl dancers. S- will be attending his third week at the toy-library. He really enjoys it and it gives me a chance to meet other moms. That can be both positive and negative. Change is in the air, and perhaps long over due. It is just so hard when you set the bar so high with the old friendships you have/had in the past, how can anyone compare? Its a tough one for certain. Happy Fall~

NEVER FORGET

We were living on Cape Cod, Massachusetts at the time- I rememeber hearing the fighter jets in the sky leaving from otis Airforce Base.....(didnt think much of it)
dh was on the phone on hold, when he had a message come on and he got a news report of it, and yelled for me to turn on the tv., nickjr doesnt go off when you have a toddler, kalen was only 11 months at the time, now almost 5ys old. I put the tv on to see the second plane hit the tower- It was horrifying then the news went haywire, they switched to the pentagon, then the farm/field in PA I watched with kalen and dh in shear horror and disbelief. We watched the remainder of the day. Just cried and cried and held each other tight....., We have friends who go into NYC daily so we checked in on them by phone too.
The image of the plane will stay forever burned in my memory...........

School

Today was Kalen's first day back to pre-school.....feels strange saying it because even though they take children ages 3 to 5 she looks and acts so much beyond her young years.....She hopped on the bus so brave and waved goodbye...Sad and happy mom at the same time watching my baby all grown and secure in her situation of her first day back-- I was always nervous as a child and somewhat very insecure, not my girl--wow, sad happy mommy tears
And a major milestone too- for 3.5 yrs she has slept in our bedroom in the corner on her "toddler" bed....urghhhhh her legs have been touching it- she is so tall- so I took down Stephens crib and put the toddler bed in his room.....She now finally sleeps in her room.....Not an easy task- but she is in there in her big girl bed....Full size-- has to make up a sticker chart and told her she gets a surprise for every night she sleeps in there----- wow well 3 nights and shining now!! woohoo yay!

Hurricane Katrina

This past week down south certainly has been a rough one. I think it has brought out the best in some people and the worst in others as well. I can't get over the slow response by our federal government, our lacking of leadership within the local government to our non humatarian president. I am overwhemled with sadness and guilt that this is America 2005. This is suppose to be the best richest country in the history of the world and we have behaved like a third world country in our reaction to helping those poor people down south. I can't put into words the indescribable feeling feeling I have been overcome with. The massive destruction that has taken place and the squalor left over in its aftermath has been pure hell. It saddens me to no end. There are still people there, needing rescue. Why? Why am I feel ashamed for this country?
