Back To School

Kalen needs to go back! I am counting the days until she returns..,15 days!!! Yahoo-
We thrive on rountine around here, it what keeps me sane as well. She needs to be around other chidlren about her age. I am very depressed she is not heading off to kindergarten, the fact that she is eager, willing and beyond ready to go dampens my spirits doesn't make matters any better. I need to be strong and happy so she is still excited about going back, so she can thrive and be enthusiastic about what she is learning, even though she is far brighter then her school mates at this stage in the game. If she regresses or becomes bored I will push and challenge her teachers to give her more vigorous activities and projects. I hope she has a very good and quick 10 months. One plus is that she will have a pre-school graduation next June and that thrills me to no end.

Julie Roberts

Mile marker 203, the gas guage leanin' on the edge of "E",
An' I'll be dang'd if the rain ain't pourin' down.
There's somethin' smokin' underneath the hood,
It's a-bangin' and a-clangin' an' it can't be good,
An' it's another fifty miles to the nearest town.
Everythin' I own's in the back in a hefty bag;
I'm outta cigarettes an' I'm down to my last drag.

I'd sure hate to break down here,
Nothin' up ahead or in the rear view mirror.
Out in the middle of no-where, no-where.
I'm in trouble if these wheels stop rollin'.
So, God help me, keep me movin' somehow.
Don't let me start wishin' I was with him now.
I made it this far without cryin' a single tear.
I'd sure hate to break down here.

Under fifty thousand miles ago,
Before the bad blood an' busted radio,
He said I was all he had ever needed.
But love is blind an' little did I know,
You were just another dead end road,
Made with pretty lies an' broken dreams.
Baby, leavin' you is easier than bein' gone.
I don't know what I'll do if one more thing goes wrong.

An' I'd sure hate to break down here.
Oh, no.

I'd sure hate to break down here,
With nothin' up ahead or in the rear view mirror.
Out in the middle of no-where, no-where.
I'm in trouble if these wheels stop rollin'.
So, God help me, keep me movin' somehow.
Don't let me start wishin' I was with him now.
I made it this far without cryin' a single tear.
An' I'd sure hate to break down,
It's too late to turn around.
I'd sure hate to break down here.

Herb Garden

Next spring we most definitely are planting an herb garden. The smells and the sights of fresh herbs are too good to miss out on. We have the space, it needs to be done.

Strong Woman

A strong woman works out everyday to keep her body in shape...but a woman of strength kneels in prayer to keep her soul in shape.

A strong woman isn't afraid of anything...

but a woman of strength shows courage in the midst of her fear.

A strong woman won't let anyone get the best of her... but a woman of strength gives the best of her to everyone.

A strong woman makes mistakes and avoids the same in the future...but a woman of strength realizes life's mistakes can also be God's blessings and capitalizes on them.

A strong woman walks surefootedly...but a woman of strength knows God will catch her when she falls...

A strong woman wears the look of confidence on her face.... but a woman of strength wears grace.

A strong woman has faith that she is strong enough for the journey... but a woman of strength has faith that it is in the journey that she will become strong.

Children's Chapel

“This chapel is built to the memory of all young people who have passed through this world and gained God by so doing. It stands for freedom of thought, prayer and action. It stands for holiness within the body, and for God in the heart each waking hour. May the Lord bless all young people who come here for spiritual and mental refreshment.” — Helene Bok

Day Trip

Took the kids to Camden yesterday afternoon for ice creams and to show them the schooners up close. What a beautiful harbor and bustling little town. The chidlren had never been around so many people before. It felt like a little city. Very crowed with tourist and the locals alike, many people speaking French. K just loved it so.

If you give a mom a muffin......

If you give a Mom a muffin,
She'll want a cup of coffee to go with it.
She'll pour herself some.
The coffee will get spilled by her three year old.
She'll wipe it up.
Wiping the floor, she will find some dirty socks.
She'll remember she has to do some laundry.
When she puts the laundry in the washer,
She'll trip over some snow boots and bump into the freezer.
Bumping into the freezer will remind her she has to plan
dinner for tonight.
She will get out a pound of hamburger.
She will look for her cookbook (101 Things to Make with a
Pound of Hamburger)
The cookbook is sitting under a pile of mail.
She will see the phone bill which is due tomorrow.
She will look for her checkbook.
The checkbook is in her purse that is being dumped out by
her two year old.
She'll smell something funny.
She'll change the two year old.
While she is changing the two year old the phone will ring.
Her four year old will answer it and hang up.
She remembers that she wants to phone a friend to come for
coffee on Friday.
Thinking of coffee will remind her that she was going to
have a cup.
She will pour herself some.
And chances are......
If she has a cup of coffee......
Her kids will have eaten the muffin that went with it

Lobster Fest '05

We all seemed to enjoy ourselves tremendously. We arrived quite early and saw some tents, the vendors were still setting up there wares. It was the perfect weather for this event. Home town day, and the admission was free. Kalen went on three rides and I went on the Ferris wheel, what a view up there. We all ate the best of the best lobster rolls right in the Maine lobster eating tent on the ocean. Life is good! We went for a late afternoon swim in the pool which the children enjoyed, as did I. For dinner we ate piazza's poolside. It was a very pleasant day.

Blueberry Fever

So I created a blueberry picking monster!!!!! I wanted to hike Beech Hill on Saturday so we did, as a family one mile up one mile back down..Watch out for the sumac and the ivy..The birds and the view were infamoulsy priceless. Mountains on one side and the endless blue ocean on the other. It was breathtakingly magnificent.
The chidlren seemed to enjoy it but in hindsight it was too much for them. We had the very best blueberry pancakes the next morning. The my dear husband gets another idea., "hey let's go get more!" So Sunday morning off we went again. However this time we found a simpler short cut and much easier outlet to pick some more wild organic blueberry's. He made the very best pie later in the day too. The house smelled like a heavenly blueberry factory! What a great family weekend we had.

VERY BLUEBERRY PIE (MOIST AND EASY)

4 C. Blueberries
1 C. Sugar
3/4 C. Cold water
5 tbsp. Flour
1 (9") baked pie shell
Whipped cream, as desired
Pinch of salt

Mix together 1/4 cup cold water, 5 tablespoons flour and salt; set aside. Bring to a boil 1 cup blueberries, sugar and 1/2 cup water; add the flour paste, stir and cook until thick. Cool. Add remaining berries, pour into cooked pie shell. Serve with a topping of whipped cream.
